Treatment
Gum disease treatment in Tirana
Bleeding gums, bad breath, receding gums or loose teeth are signs of gum disease, the most common reason adults lose teeth. We measure the pockets around every tooth, clean the roots properly and give you a maintenance plan. Gum health also has to be stable before implants, veneers or crowns are placed.

How we treat gums

Gum assessment and charting
Six measurements per tooth, bleeding scores and X-rays give a clear picture of how much support each tooth has left.

Deep cleaning (root debridement)
Plaque and calculus removed from the root surfaces under local anaesthetic, quadrant by quadrant, so the gum can reattach.

Maintenance programme
Gum disease is controlled, not cured. We set a three to six month recall and teach the cleaning technique that fits your mouth.

Planning replacements
Where teeth cannot be saved, we stabilise the gums first and then plan implants or a bridge on healthy foundations.

The treatment sequence
- Before you travel
Describe the signs
Tell us about bleeding, bad breath, gaps opening or loose teeth on WhatsApp, and send a recent X-ray if you have one.
- Visit 1
Full periodontal examination
Pocket charting, bleeding scores and radiographs, then a written diagnosis with the prognosis for each tooth.
- Visit 2–3
Root surface debridement
Deep cleaning under local anaesthetic, usually two longer appointments a few days apart so you can complete it in one trip.
- 6–8 weeks
Re-assessment
Pockets are re-measured. Most sites improve, and any that do not are treated further or referred for surgical care.
- Every 3–6 months
Maintenance
Regular supportive cleaning keeps the disease inactive. This can be done with us or with your dentist at home.
Keeping gums healthy
- Clean between every tooth daily with interdental brushes sized for each gap, floss alone is rarely enough.
- Brush twice daily for two minutes at the gum line with a soft brush, angled into the margin.
- Stopping smoking is the single biggest improvement you can make, smokers respond far less well to treatment.
- Tell us if you are diabetic or on medication that affects the gums, we adjust the recall interval accordingly.

A reply within hours
Message us with photos or an X-ray and a clinician reviews your case, usually the same working day.
Your costed plan, privately
Albanian dental guidelines do not allow published prices, so your written plan and costs arrive by email or WhatsApp.
No obligation to book
The assessment is free and yours to keep, take it to your own dentist for a second opinion if you prefer.
