The procedure
Surgery under local anaesthetic, with sedation if you prefer. Most appointments last 30–60 minutes and you can walk out the same hour.
- Day 7–10
Review or suture removal
We review the site before you fly, or arrange dissolvable sutures and a remote photo check if your stay is shorter.
Recovery advice
- Use cold compresses for the first 24 hours and keep your head elevated when resting.
- Avoid smoking, rinsing vigorously and hot drinks for the first two days to protect the clot.
- Take prescribed medication as directed and eat soft, cool food while the site settles.
- Message us straight away if bleeding, swelling or pain increases after the third day.

- Most procedures are done under local anaesthetic while you are awake and comfortable. Sedation can be arranged for anxious patients or longer surgeries.
- How long is recovery?
- Simple extractions settle in two to three days. Impacted wisdom teeth and grafting typically involve swelling for three to five days, with normal activity resumed within a week.
- Can I fly after oral surgery?
- We normally advise waiting 24–48 hours after a straightforward extraction, and longer after a sinus lift. We plan your travel dates around the procedure at the consultation.
- Can an extraction and implant be done together?
- Often yes. Where the socket is intact and free of infection we place an immediate implant at the same appointment, which saves a healing stage and a trip.
