Examination and X-rays
Bitewing radiographs show decay between the teeth that is invisible to the eye. You get a written plan of every tooth we recommend treating.

Decay removed
Under local anaesthetic and magnification, only the decayed tissue is removed so as much healthy tooth as possible is kept.

Restoration placed
The composite is bonded in layers and shaped to your anatomy, or an impression is taken for a ceramic inlay fitted a few days later.
- Before you leave
Bite check and polish
The bite is checked with articulating paper and the surface polished, a high filling is the most common cause of post-op sensitivity.
After a filling
- Wait until the anaesthetic wears off before eating so you do not bite your cheek or lip.
- Mild cold sensitivity for a few days is normal, pain on biting is not, tell us and we will adjust it.
- Clean between the teeth daily, new decay usually starts at the contact point, not on the filling itself.
- Have fillings checked at every hygiene visit so small repairs replace big ones.
